Myrick Multimedia has long strived since our inception in 2020 to provide users with content without having to pay a price for an additional subscription cost.
However, this model does not reflect current conditions in the business world, and we have to make pragmatic choices about finances and the value of the content we provide in order to continue to do so in the future.
Rising costs due to inflation have greatly impacted the way we do business, and we understand that our readers are feeling this pinch as well.
However, like you, we want to ensure that we can pay bills and put food on the table.
After long discussion, we’ve decided that we will be implementing a subscription model in order to view content on Polk Today starting on July 1, 2022. This subscription model will remain under the cost of our competitors in the local marketplace, and will still cost less than a cup of coffee at your favorite cafe.
We will allow users to read three articles a month free of charge. Once that limit is reached, users will be required to pay a $4.99 a month subscription fee. Additionally, for the first three months of the changeover, articles published from 2020 to July 1, 2022 will continue to be available on Polk Today for users to read for free. Going forward new articles will not be available free of charge following July 1.
However, as a service to our readers and to the community as a whole, we will continue to provide obituaries and morning arrest reports free of charge.
We understand that this may come as a surprise, since Myrick Multimedia (and yours truly) have always believed that we should ensure that our readers have access to the news without paying a price. Unfortunately, times have changed and we have to adjust accordingly.
Please consider subscribing to Polk Today to support local news coverage. Every dollar counts toward keeping you up to date with the most reliable information in our area. We are a business first, and without contribution, we can’t provide the news you’ve come to rely on.
