The son of an engineer and a librarian originally hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kevin (the Editor) Myrick is technically a third-generation newsman who currently resides and reports the goings-on in Polk County, Georgia and the surrounding Northwest Georgia area.
A known character in the region during his former roles at the Rome News-Tribune and The Polk County Standard Journal – the latter where he served as Editor and for a time sole reporter – he now provides daily news and sports coverage to thousands across the globe on a growing community of websites.
His family roots in North Alabama include a grandfather who ran his own news delivery stand and routes in Huntsville, and later a father who worked those same delivery routes as well.
Kevin grew up in the metro Chattanooga area during his younger days, living around Ringgold until his family moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in the late 1990s. He stayed until the start of his junior year in 2001, when he relocated with other family members to Huntsville, Alabama, and following his final two years at Sparkman High School, went onto Auburn University to earn a Bachelors of Arts degree in English with a focus on creative writing and journalism.
Myrick ended up in the newsroom instead of deliveries, working for a short time for Washington Post.Newsweek Interactive before moving back to his homeland in Northwest Georgia to become a reporter in and around the Rome area.
Later in late 2013, Myrick was sent to work in Polk County and became the Editor of the combined Polk County Standard Journal in 2014.
In 2020, he and his former employer parted ways and Kevin launched Polk.Today on June 19, 2020 and thus Myrick Multimedia was born onto the online masses.
Since that time, the Myrick Multimedia portfolio has expanded to include PolkSportsWire, PolkSportsWire Fan Zone, and KevintheEditor.com.
He continues to come up with new site ideas and is expanding his opportunities presently and in the years to come.
Kevin lives in Polk County with his partner Jess and their pups.
